How to download Absa statements
- 1In the Absa Banking App, select the account on the Home page and tap the Statements tab.
- 2Choose the statement and a date range, then tap Download and accept the charges. For a stamped statement, choose Download stamped statement (.pdf) instead.
- 3In Absa Online, click Accounts, select the account, enter the date range and click Download now, then Continue.
Password-protected eStatements
Absa’s eStatements arrive as PDF attachments that need a password to open; the cover email says which password to use. Clients often forward them as they are. Upload one here and enter the password when asked: it’s used once to open the file and never stored.
eStatements are free, while the app asks you to accept charges before a download, so the eStatements a client already has are a good place to start.
Converting an Absa statement
- 1Upload the PDF statements, up to 10 at a time and up to 50 pages each. If a file is password-protected you’ll be asked for the password; it’s used once and never stored.
- 2Review each statement next to its transactions. The opening balance, every transaction and the closing balance have to add up; if they don’t, the rows to check are flagged.
- 3Choose Export, then the Xero statement CSV, Excel, a QuickBooks CSV layout or OFX for Sage. For OFX, enter the branch code and account number printed on the statement.
Before you rely on it
There’s no Absa template behind this: the converter reads each statement’s layout, so it isn’t limited to layouts someone has set up in advance. That also means an Absa statement hasn’t necessarily been tested, and results vary by layout. Convert one statement with the free pages and check that it balances before you convert a client’s whole history.
Every row links to the line of the PDF it came from, and the opening balance plus the transactions has to reach the printed closing balance. When it doesn’t, the rows to check are flagged before you export.
Client data
Files and results are deleted 24 hours after upload, or straight away if you delete them. Before uploading client statements, read the privacy notice: it names every company that processes statement data and where.

Questions
Can I convert a password-protected Absa eStatement?
Yes. You’ll be asked for the password when you upload. It’s used once to open the file and never stored.
Can I download Absa statements as CSV?
Absa’s help guides cover downloading and emailing statements, not exporting transactions as CSV. To get them into a spreadsheet, Xero or QuickBooks, convert the PDF statement; each one is checked against its opening and closing balances.
Does it work with Absa credit card statements?
Yes. The balance check follows the card’s direction: purchases increase what’s owed and payments reduce it.
Is this made by Absa?
No. BalancedPDF is an independent tool, not affiliated with Absa. Absa is a trademark of its owner.
