Statements from Australian banks

Clients bank with CommBank, Westpac, ANZ and NAB, and with Macquarie, ING, Bendigo Bank and others. Statement layouts differ: separate debit and credit columns, a single amount column, or balances marked CR and DR.

There’s no list of supported banks to wait for: the converter reads each statement’s layout instead of relying on a template per bank. It’s designed for English-language PDF statements. Results vary by layout, so try one of your client’s statements with the free pages before you rely on it.

Guides for Australian banks

Where to find PDF statements in online banking, how far back they go, and what each bank exports by itself.

Xero in Australia

Xero only reads PDF bank statements for organisations in the US and Canada. Everywhere else, a PDF has to become a CSV or OFX file before Xero will import it. Export the Xero statement CSV, or OFX with the BSB and account number, and import it into the bank account with Manage account › Import a statement.

It’s the usual fix when a bank feed has a gap, or when a new client’s history starts before their feed did.

MYOB

MYOB’s bank statement import takes OFX files, so export OFX with the BSB, account number and AUD as the currency.

QuickBooks Online

Export the 3-column CSV with one signed amount, or the 4-column layout with separate credit and debit columns. Files are split to fit QuickBooks’ limit of 1,000 lines per upload. Check the column matching in QuickBooks before you accept the upload.

Client data

Files and results are deleted 24 hours after upload, or straight away if you delete them. Before uploading client statements, read the privacy notice: it names every company that processes statement data and where.

Questions

Does it work with my client’s bank?

It reads the layout of any English-language PDF statement rather than using a template per bank. Convert one statement with the free pages and see whether it balances.

What does it cost?

Prices are in US dollars: try 3 pages free as a guest or get 15 free pages with a free account, then credit packs from $9 for 60 pages or Pro at $29 a month for 400 pages.

Can I convert several months at once?

Yes. Upload up to 10 statements at a time. Each one is checked and exported separately, so a problem in one month doesn’t hold up the rest.

Try it on one of your statements

No account needed. The file is deleted within 24 hours.
