How to download Standard Bank statements
- 1Sign in to Internet Banking and click Transact.
- 2Under History & Documents, select Statements. Choose the account and the statement date, up to 24 months back, then click Download or View.
- 3In the Banking App, select the account on the home screen and scroll down to Your documents. Choose the 6-month statement, or a month under Previous statements, and download it or send it by email.
Further back than 24 months
Internet Banking only goes 24 months back. Clients can also have statements sent by email or post, or print one at a Standard Bank ATM (AutoPlus) with their card and PIN, so older months may already be in their inbox or files.
Scanned paper statements can be converted too, but they can’t be traced line by line, so check them against the page image.
Converting a Standard Bank statement
- 1Upload the PDF statements, up to 10 at a time and up to 50 pages each. If a file is password-protected you’ll be asked for the password; it’s used once and never stored.
- 2Review each statement next to its transactions. The opening balance, every transaction and the closing balance have to add up; if they don’t, the rows to check are flagged.
- 3Choose Export, then the Xero statement CSV, Excel, a QuickBooks CSV layout or OFX for Sage. For OFX, enter the branch code and account number printed on the statement.
Before you rely on it
There’s no Standard Bank template behind this: the converter reads each statement’s layout, so it isn’t limited to layouts someone has set up in advance. That also means a Standard Bank statement hasn’t necessarily been tested, and results vary by layout. Convert one statement with the free pages and check that it balances before you convert a client’s whole history.
Every row links to the line of the PDF it came from, and the opening balance plus the transactions has to reach the printed closing balance. When it doesn’t, the rows to check are flagged before you export.
Client data
Files and results are deleted 24 hours after upload, or straight away if you delete them. Before uploading client statements, read the privacy notice: it names every company that processes statement data and where.

Can I download Standard Bank statements as CSV?
Standard Bank’s help pages describe statements you view, download or email, not a CSV export. To get the transactions into a spreadsheet, Xero or QuickBooks, convert the PDF: every row is checked against the statement’s opening and closing balances before you export.
